Having a food calorie counter is an excellent idea if you are the type of person who likes to watch what you eat. Believe it or not it is really easy to accumulatively eat a lot more calories than you can imagine if you do not keep a good record of what goes into your mouth. If you do not believe this try eating everything you would normally eat for one day and use your food calorie counter to total the amount at the end of the day. You may find that you have consumed 5000 or more calories for that day alone. In fact a lot of diet specialists suggest doing this for a few weeks so you can see the errors in what you are eating and where the bulk of your calories are coming from. For example,you may eat one item that contains 1000 calories in itself! Unfortunately,this is a very common occurrence and when you start using a food calorie counter to tally the amount you eat you will easily see this is true.

Once you have gone through that initial period of being horrified by how many calories you really eat everyday then you can begin making your adjustments. The food calorie counter is going to be the one thing that helps you do that. This time before you eat anything check the caloric content in it. Make sure you pay attention to serving size as this makes a huge difference as well. Try to avoid foods which have high calorie content for a tiny serving as this is unsatisfying. Low fat yogurts are excellent for people who are trying to eat satisfying food. It is also very good for digestion. Just be sure you eat the kind that has active cultures in them. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also good foods to eat as they are low in calories but will help to fill you up. It is best to avoid pre packaged or frozen “weight loss” foods as they are really just not that good for you. If you can possibly cook your own fresh low calorie recipes you will be much better off. It does not take that long to throw together healthy meals that do not contain a lot of fat and calories and usually you can find recipes that the whole family will love. Lentil soup,vegetable soup,turkey spaghetti are just a few of the foods that you can make yourself that are easy and do not contain a lot of calories and fat.
